The government, which runs the post office, can’t afford to pay return-stamp fees, and you’re left paying your own postage to return forms to the unemployment office.
I received a ”Job Search Evaluation” form in the mail Friday. It seems I’ve reached the halfway point of my unemployment benefits, and the government would like to know how I’ve been spending my time. The least they could have done was to include one of those little “No Stamp Required if Mailed in the U.S.” envelopes.

Ok, let’s get this straight, no one owes you a freakin’ stamp! The government owes you life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, clean air and water, social security, medicaid, protection from criminals and terrorists (here and abroad), civil rights, recourse to the law and judicial systems, pothole free roads, liability free sidewalks, the right to bare arms, the right to be nude at designated nudity beaches, the right to babble and print and distribute all kinds of nutty, meaningless gooble de gook religious or political or philosophical nonsense, shoot off fireworks (as approved by local laws),
a free flag on “Flag Day” at your local recruitment office (made in China), and on and on…….But they don’t owe you a job or a stinkin’ stamp! What you could do is walk around all day with your head tilted downward, constantly scanning the pavement and streets for change, you will eventually scrape up some coinage this way, so take heart and have faith that what you need will be provided by an every loving and omnipotent government that is all around you and everywhere and knows everything about you and is even watching you right now. I hope you found this reassuring.
